Selfishness

People are selfish. Everyone. Every single person in the world is looking out for themselves first and everyone else second. That's why we have billionaires and celebrities with unnecessarily extravagant homes, pet tigers, and private jets while there are still homeless, starving people living under bridges and starving villages in Africa. It's important to remember what is truly necessary and what is desired for life. This can be debatable in some ways but ultimately, what is most necessary is the survival of our species and the survival of our planet. My own life is insignificant compared to the billions of other people that live on the planet and the billions that have died and the billions that will live in the future.

However, it is inscribed into our genes, perhaps as an ancient instinctual thing to take care of your own individual self first and therefore, at least one from a species will be sure to live on. But if the entire species does this...while living and working so closely together with no other means of death but by disease, yourself, or another person...it becomes harmful to the species to think so selfishly.

At this point, the creativity engine of my brain has slowed and fails to write more. Good night.
